Meet the member: Make it Up
New Exchange member, Make It Up, will be making an appearance in the villa this summer, as part of its work with Love Island and I Saw It First.
Make It Up is a B2B import and distribution company that works with fashion retail giants such as Boohoo, Missguided, Pretty Little Thing and I Saw It First. The start-up offers trend, design and importing solutions in footwear, beauty tools, accessories, fitness accessories, sleepwear and more.
Founder, Anastasia Kenyon, originally started the business in 2017 working on a B2C model with Kandi Cosmetics. This presented the opportunity for the company to offer own branded cosmetics for Boohoo.com where Make It Up provided 90% of the range. This opened doors for the business to expand both within cosmetics and to other products and to build a larger client base.
The pandemic hit the business hard, but through months of hard work and dedication, the business has some exciting plans in the pipeline for the next year. As well as the partnership with I Saw It First which will see new Love Island stars wearing Make It Up’s footwear, the brand is introducing footwear to several new clients, diversifying into pet care and beginning product development for its own skincare brand.
Make It Up is part of the Exchange start-up support programme, which gives founders access to mentoring, talks, state-of-the-art office space and a network of like-minded entrepreneurs.
Talking about the business’s future on the scheme, founder, Anastasia Kenyon, said: “We are looking forward to immersing ourselves in the brilliant network of creative and tech entrepreneurs on Exchange. Our company mission is to break away from old methods of importing to make trading trend-proof and having such brilliant tech minds around us will certainly help us streamline our systems in line with our mission.
“The facilities at Department Bonded Warehouse are fantastic. I love that the offices are so warm, welcoming and, most importantly, dog friendly!”
