Meet the Exchange business making bills headache-free

Fintech start-up Houseflow promises the future of utilities, and joins Exchange alongside the latest cohort of businesses. The Manchester-based business aims to simplify tenant living by saving people money, time, and headaches by managing bills from one single place.

Houseflow is an industry-defining all-in-one utility provider for property managers, tenants, and landlords. It offers utilities across residential and corporate properties, providing renewable energy with the option to add broadband and water into a single discounted bill. This is the industry’s first supplier-agnostic bills package for tenants.

Founded by Joe Shalom at the start of 2021, this fintech start-up has already shown its potential, seeing over £30,000 growth in its first six months. Joining Exchange will provide Joe with the support and guidance to help him expand his young start-up to a well-developed brand. He aims to become a recognisable name for tenant bills in the UK and the leading one-stop-shop for residential blocks.

Being a member of the tech start-up support programme, Exchange, means Houseflow now has office space in Department Bonded Warehouse, where Joe can collaborate with other like-minded entrepreneurs and take part in workshops and skills sessions to help him scale the business and learn from peers with similar ambitions.

Joe Shalom, founder of Houseflow said: “I founded Houseflow to provide a solution for the often confusing and painful world of utility bills. I have always been fascinated by the energy industry and first became involved during a gap year in Australia, going door-to-door with latest and greatest energy contracts. After recently exploring the UK property market I saw that there had been little progression in utility providers and technology. There was still a demand for a better method of bill paying.

“It’s great to be given this opportunity to be part of Exchange. Houseflow’s offering is very much community focused and I want to embody this in our culture. To be around other tech start-ups that face similar operational difficulties and can share learnings is a great space for me and my brand. I look forward to collaborating with the Exchange partners and entrepreneurs to grow my business. And next stop, hire an operations whizz!
